The Imposter Syndrome Myth

At the least, many business environments and places where decisions are made ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ญ๐บ ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฏโ๐ต ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ด๐ช๐จ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฅ with participation in mind from women and people of color, ๐ก๐๐ฉ'๐จ ๐ฃ๐ค๐ฉ ๐๐ค๐ง๐๐๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐ค๐ง ๐ข๐ค๐จ๐ฉ ๐ค๐ ๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ค๐ง๐ฎ "๐ฉ๐๐๐จ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ค๐ฅ๐ก๐" ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ ๐๐ญ๐ฅ๐ก๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ก๐ฎ ๐๐ญ๐๐ก๐ช๐๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ข ๐ฉ๐๐๐จ๐ ๐ฅ๐ก๐๐๐๐จ ๐ฝ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฉ ๐ค๐ ๐๐ฃ๐/๐ค๐ง ๐๐๐ฉ๐ช๐๐ก ๐ซ๐๐ค๐ก๐๐ฃ๐๐.
So, while I understand that programs to help women and other historically marginalized people overcome โimposter syndromeโ are well-meaning, and I know ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ผ๐๐ฟ [๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ] ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฎ๐๐น๐ "๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ป๐ด", I also think these messages (ironically?) gaslight their intended audiences: โ๐ ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ด๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ฏโ๐ต ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ญ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ธ๐ข๐บ. ๐ ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ด๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ช๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐จ!โ when, in fact, if ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ ๐ถ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐'๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ปโ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐ฑ โ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐โ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐!
